Yoga found me in 1994 when I began studying with Bob Philips in Bristol, the Iyengar way. I appreciated the precision and the uncompromising rigour, yoga practice became the guiding light for me then as I embarked on a journey of profound mental and physical recovery. I studied Iyengar Yoga for several years retreating frequently with Jilly Rosser in Andalusia, Spain.
I first retreated with my teacher Clive Sheridan 17 years ago in Norfolk and have retreated with him in Europe ever since though most notably in Rishikesh, India for his 30 day Intensive in 2000
My yoga practice and my teaching of the subject have been informed by 8 years regularly studying Qi Gong with Daverick Leggett from 2003 to 2011. This time informed my awareness of the energetic subtleties and the more nurturing possibilities of mind-body-spirit practice, this was also put into perspective by several Goenka Vipassana meditation retreats.
More recently I have begun attending classes with Jivamukti teacher Stewart Gilchrist in London.
I am a Holistic Masseur, I graduated in 1998 and have maintained a professional practice since then, currently this takes the form of home visits and a regular clinic in London.
My classes are for beginners and the more experienced alike. Traditional ‘Hatha’ [literally ‘Sun-Moon’] inspired they incorporate Vinyasa variations with an emphasis on the breath complimented by the practice of more ‘Yin’ postures offering the chance to meet, release and consciously surrender old habit patterns of the mind through bodily awareness. Peppered with invitations to understand the body-mind relationship and the anatomy of tension and release the atmosphere has been described as ‘playfully serious’. My desire is to facilitate and encourage my students on their own journey towards wellbeing and peace of mind.
